memories of cambodia

cambodia was wonderful. the people were very sweet and i had enjoyed myself especially learning about their deep history.

tuk tuk mdm

today i got back to pp. visited s21 khmer rouge. didnt feel very hungry after the visit. dinner at happy herb pizza. the pizza was very nice - very much the ones made in melbourne. hm.. but melbourne ones' are better.

walk by sisowat quay.

found that they had taiwanese channels on tv. run out to buy supper before going back to paragon hotel to binge out.

templed-out

its an early start today. left my guest house at 4.45am so as to watch the sunrise at angkor wat. it was really cold in the morning. waited about 30 mins before the sun started to come out. it was a gorgeous sight.

i love angkor wat. too bad i only had time to do the temples nearer siem reap. the next time i would stay longer in sr so that i could take my time and travel to the temples further out.
my fave was the bayon and of coz, ta phrom (tomb raiders). the structure at ta phrom is really amazing.

dinner was at the soup dragon. the food was really yummy too. was hit by a nice surprise when the children from different schools were out that night and had a mini parade.

bumpy ride to siem reap

woke up at 6.00am to make my way to siem reap (angkor wat). paid US$7 for the 5 hours ride. one of the more luxurious buses - was given a bottle of water and "bread top quality" bun for the ride. am excited to see one of the wonders of the world. having read that cambodia is a very dusty place, i came fully prepared. am fully covered for the bus ride.

lunch at the red piano before going to see the sunset.

sunset at brey. angkor wat is huge! had to walk to brey to see the sunset. the steps to the top was very steep and each step is a slab, not a step.

by the time was i ready to walk thru the forest and to the tuk tuk, it was very dark and many times i nearly fell to my death. (must bring a torchlight)

dinner was at khmer kitchen (one of the best meals i had)
foot massage in cambodia is very similiar to the thai foot massage. personally, i prefer the thai ones coz they use a stronger "tiger-balm" like massage oil. i felt that the massage oil in cambodia was not as nice and did not have the mentol feel to it.

B'DAY in CAMBODIA

arrived in phnom penh. first night stayed in asia hotel = us$20.00 for one night. cambodia goes by US dollars and ive got to say that is it one of the pricer country as compared to mynamar, rural thailand and malaysia. had dinner at a sichuan rest. coz i had arrived too late and didnt wanna venture out to unknown areas. dinner was cheap though. for US$6, i had three dishes - prawns, tofu and a veg.
